Excavations at the Caravanserai Site in Talin

Since July 15, 2026, an archaeological expedition of the Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage, led by Meline Simonyan, has been conducting archaeological excavations at the site of the Great Caravanserai in Talin.
In the area of the main structures, walls dating to a later period have been uncovered, built with stones fallen from the monument, along with domestic hearths and ovens.
The research has already yielded the first noteworthy finds. Excavations in the first room revealed beads and a fragment of a smoking pipe.
Work carried out in the courtyard area uncovered a fragment of a ceramic vessel decorated with animal motifs.
The excavations are ongoing.
