Summary of Archaeological Excavations 2025

Recently, at the assembly hall of the Scientific Research Centre of Historical and Cultural Heritage, the heads of the centre’s expeditions presented their reports on the excavations carried out in 2025:

• Excavations in 2025 at the newly discovered Neolithic settlement in the Yerevan district of Silikyan and at the Aghavnatun burial ground (Head of the expedition: Hakop Simonyan).
• Excavations carried out on the territory of the rock-cut complex of Ohanavank (Head of the expedition: Mher Khechoyan).
• Rescue excavations carried out in 2025 as part of restoration work at several sites of the Lori Fortress-City (Head of the expedition: Arman Nalbandyan).
The archaeologists particularly noted the work of various specialists included in the expeditions – anthropologists and restorers. Their important role in the strengthening and restoration of exceptional finds directly on site (in situ) was noted.
The reports were followed by an active discussion. The leaders of the expeditions answered the questions of those present, detailing the finds, their restoration, further excavations, as well as the restoration and preservation of the monuments.
